Ever wonder sometimes, do I live in a house or a pig sty? Living in our home with my husband and our three boys, let me just say that I was outnumbered. Trying to keep our house reasonably neat and clean seemed to be an insurmountable task. I felt as if I was drowning in stuff! Can anyone out there relate?
I learned some simple organizational skills that have helped me tremendously and changed my life.
Instead of trying to clean the house one a week (as I learned from my mother). I decided to take a few minutes each morning to 'pick up'. I go through room by room and put things away. It only takes about 10 to 15 minutes in the morning. Then when it comes time to actually clean the house I am not so overwhelmed. I can actually focus on cleaning and not picking up clutter.
Find a 'home' for everything and teach your children that when they are finished with a particular item they need to put it back where it goes. (Easier said than done, although well worth the effort.)
Learning and putting into practice some practical, organizational skills can save you time, energy, and money.
You will gain control of your life!
