Now there is a question. Have your ever walked out of church thinking not about the great message you just heard, but contemplating "what am I going to feed my family"? You then decide that maybe you just better eat out. Why? Because you don't have the slightest idea what to fix quickly.
I remember as if it were yesterday. My kids were very small and we were on our way home after church one Sunday. One of the kids asked me what we were having for lunch when we got home. I remember the panic that I felt. I did not have the slightest idea! I had fifteen minutes to go over everything in my mind. What was in the pantry? What was in the freezer? What am I going to fix? You see, at that time in our married life, eating out was not an option. I had to do some quick thinking, and I vowed that I would never put myself in that position again. When you have three boys and a husband, they are not just hungry after church, they're STARVING! They want to eat NOW! Can any of you relate?
So what's the answer? It's very simple, and it has changed my life. Plan ahead. That's it, two words that can also change your life. I go to the grocery once a week, and before I go I do the most important part and that is make out my list. I write down menus for the entire week, and in doing so, I decide what we will eat on Sunday. On Saturday morning I start preparing for Sunday dinner. I get as much done ahead of time as possible, then when we get home from church I can have a great meal on the table in 15-20 minutes.
